The other Candidate Cities for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2014, Sochi and Pyeongchang, were also in Cuba. All the candidates have now begun the campaigns for their bids in earnest.

Mayor Heinz Schaden said, "It was very important for us to attend this congress. We had many encouraging conversations, which confirmed to us that we are making good progress."

Fedor Radmann, leader of the bid, added, "It is essential that we make use of every opportunity and do not drop our guard. Sochi and Pyeongchang are such strong and ambitious candidates, that we can only compete with them through great commitment and effort."
