It was an emotional evening with the „crème de la crème“ of the Salzburg bid supporters in attendance starting with President and Chairman of 2014, Heinz Schaden, IOC member and President of the Austrian Olympic Committee, Leo Wallner, Gabi Burgstaller, Governor of Salzburg, and most of the Salzburg 2014 Ambassadors to just name a few. Furthermore, a delegation of Salzburg 2014 and, most importantly for a Fund Raising dinner, representatives of the 115 Austrian companies which generously helped to support the bid in the last two years plus additional companies, attended as well.

Heinz Schaden: “I am very proud that we received such a broad support of so many companies on our way to Guatemala. The fact that 115 companies financially backed the bid shows that our bid is of high national interest and concern. I am looking forward to the decision in Guatemala.“

Besides the ambassadors, some more Austrian winter sport heroes showed their support for the Salzburg 2014 bid at the event, for example Michaela Dorfmeister, double Olympic Champion from Torino 2006 and Fritz Strobl, Olympic Champion from Salt Lake City 2002. Michaela handed a Salzburg 2014 backpack filled with lucky charms to Leo Wallner, wishing the Salzburg 2014 delegation all the best for the decision on 4 July.

Fritz Strobl: „Of course I am in favour of Salzburg’s bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2014. It would be fantastic if Salzburg would be awarded the Games. It would be a dream for all of us.“
