A few days to go before the International Olympic Committee decides, which of the seven Applicant Cities for the right to host the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2014 receive the status “Candidate City”, the Salzburg 2014 Bid Committee is confident.
CEO Fedor H. Radmann: “During our visits at the ANOC General Assembly (Association of National Olympic Committees) in Seoul, the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships in Riga and the FIS Congress in Vilamoura we found out, that the Salzburg bid is known for its compact concept and a technically excellent Games Plan. We did good preliminary work and will conscientiously continue this also the last weeks up to June 22nd.“ From the receipt of the Questionnaire in August, the Salzburg 2014 Bid Team has put more than 2,500 hours into the development and production of the “Response to the Questionnaire.” The 80-page document, was developed in close cooperation with national and international experts in transportation, environment, security, accommodation, venues, finance and meteorology and other areas. The Questionnaire consists of 25 questions, all of which must be answered in detail. The document and its accompanying government guarantees was submitted to the IOC before the February 1 deadline. This document serves as basis for the decision of the IOC, which of the Applicant cities receive the status „Candidate City “. Mayor Dr. Heinz Schaden: „The Bid Committee works on full speed, so that we pass the short list on June 22nd with flying colours and I am convinced that we will, since we do not only convince by our concept internationally, but also with Fedor Radmann as the man, who opens the floodgates on international basis to us. We had outstanding discussions with the Presidents of International Sport federations, therefore I am looking towards June 22nd very positively. “ During the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Torino the Bid Committee took part in the Observer programme of the TOROC and the IOC and/or IPC and could collect valuable realizations, in the Austria house important contacts to International Sport Federations have been made. Likewise at the ANOC General Assembly in Seoul in April 2006, where beside the Mayor Dr. Heinz Schaden and CEO Fedor H Radmann also international experts of the Salzburg 2014 Bid Committee George Hirthler and Mike Lee were present. The American George Hirthler participated in the past decades in the successful bids of Atlanta 1996, Beijing 2008 and Vancouver 2010. Briton Mike Lee is considered as an internationally most renowned communication strategist and has led the London 2012 bid to success last year. On June 22nd the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne will announce the Candidate Cities in the early afternoon.The official announcement in form of a press briefing will be attended by the Mayor Dr. Heinz Schaden, Salzburgs Governor Mag. Gabi Burgstaller, CEO Fedor H. Radmann, and NOC Secretary General Dr. Heinz Jungwirth will be present.
