One year to go 04.07.06
On July 3rd the IOC questionnaire, which consists of three parts, was received by the 2014 Candidate Cities.  An intensive period of work now begins in earnest for the Salzburg 2014 team that includes national and international experts across a range of subjects.  Salzburg 2014 will collect information and grow its knowledge base via a range of methods that include:

# extensive working groups
# official Observer Programms
# IOC Candidate City Workshops
# the IOC Extranet for Candidate Cities
# national sports experts
# close co-operation with national and international sports federations
# sector experts.

Salzburg 2014 CEO Fedor H. Radmann said: “We have already studied the IOC questionnaire in some detail with our experts and the entire team is committed to working intensively over the coming months to submit a comprehensive and compelling Salzburg 2014 Candidate File to the IOC.  We believe our bid is strong and we hope it will get stronger.  There is a massive passion for winter sports in Austria and we want to grasp that enthusiasm and channel it for the benefit of the Olympic Movement. Our City and nation also has extensive experience in hosting major winter sports events and we believe these factors, together with our sports facilities and transport infrastructure give our bid very solid foundations.  The task now is to build on those foundations.”

Salzburg 2014 Games Plan Director DI Gernot Leitner said: “The questionnaire covers a huge amount of detail on a wide ranges of topics. Since all three candidate cities have technically good concepts, their Candidature Files will be an important factor in the IOC’s deliberations. Our team is now fully focussed on converting the plans in our Applicant Questionnaire into a compelling Candidature File.  We will be using high quality experts to guide our working groups, and will involve sporting federations who are intrinsic to signing off our plans.”

Salzburg Mayor Dr Heinz Schaden said: “We now have the green light to demonstrate to the IOC that Salzburg is capable of hosting an inspirational Games in 2014, but we are up against two very strong bids.  Our entire team and the people of Salzburg realize the wonderful prize that is at stake in this contest and we must now work tirelessly to secure this great prize.”

Salzburg 2014 Bid Operations Director Mag. Rudolf Höller added: “We look forward to taking our campaign international in the coming months and to work with the people of Salzburg to really start to build excitement and momentum as we move towards Guatemala.”
