The bid committee Salzburg 2014 used the existing sport euphoria to inform the Salzburg sport fans about the UCI Road World Championships 2006 in Salzburg and the bid for the right to host the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2014.

Mayor Dr. Heinz Schaden called for support for the bid in a magical scenery: the old town of Salzburg filled with hundreds of sport fans in front of him and the remarkable castle Hohensalzburg in his back. In talks with Ö3-presenter Peter L. Eppinger he described the advantages of Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games for the city, the region of Salzburg and the entire of Austria.

Also Danja Haslacher, multiple participant and medals winner in Paralympic Winter Games, underlined again from the view of the athletes, how important it would be to have the Games in the home country: „How beautiful would it be to organize Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games on the sports facilities, we know that good!“.
