All the events of the XI Paralympic Winter Games will take place in the same venues used for the Olympic Winter Games. The  Salzburg 2014 Paralympic concept is configured just like Olympic Winter Games—with two major clusters that group the snow events (alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and biathlon) in Zauchensee and Radstadt/Altenmarkt and the ice events (wheelchair curling and ice-sledge hockey) as well as the Opening Ceremony, Closing Ceremony and all Medal Ceremonies in the host city Salzburg.

The Paralympic Winter Games is the biggest international Winter Sport Event for disabled athletes.

Austria has a great tradition in disabled sport with 182 gold medals won by Austrians at past Paralympic Games.
