In developing its vision for the 2014 Games, Salzburg has created a plan to “Celebrate the Magic of Winter Sport.”  At the heart of this vision, is a magical experience for the Olympians and Paralympians of 2014. While uniting all Olympians in a single Olympic Village, Salzburg will transform its Old Town – one of the most beautiful and alluring cities in the world—and a UNESCO World Heritage Site—into a gallery of places and spaces for reunions, parties, celebrations, dining, dancing, entertainment and recreation – with the 900-year old Hohensalzburg Castle crowning the celebration. The Medals plaza for all Olympians and Paralympians will span the Salzach River and every team, every athlete—along with their families, friends and guests—will be given the royal treatment in honor of their stature as the heroes of winter sport.
